John Montgomery — Community Leader.

John serves on the Boards of the Chickahominy YMCA, the Virginia League of Conservation Voters and is Chairman of the Board of the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. He is an elder at Sandston Presbyterian Church and a member of Sandston Rotary. John has coached and refereed youth sports teams in recreational and church leagues.

John is a graduate of West Point. He spent five years on active duty as an Airborne Ranger and served with the National Guard during Operation Desert Storm as a Company Commander of an anti-tank unit. John later continued his National Guard leadership as an Inspector General.

His military training and awards include: Infantry Officer Basic and Advance Courses; U.S. Army Ranger, Airborne and Air Assault courses; Jungle Operations training; Expert Infantryman Badge; Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal and Inspector General’s Course.

John has served Governors Kaine and Warner as a military advisor.
